You're a Poet and Didn't Know it!

Hi Starfish,

We are studying different types of poetry all this week. This will help us prepare for our poetry page. I'm curious...what type of poems do you like best? Can you post it in the comments?

See you in class,
Ms. L

Funny poem
by: jamiah johnson

Teachers ARE cool
Parents ARE understanding
I DO love school
Little siblings AREN'T demanding

Math IS easy
Science IS TOO
The equations NEVER make me queasy
And I ALWAYS know what to do

My family is NEVER annoying
My sister NEVER whines a lot
Baby-sitting IS worth enjoying
And I AM glad i gave it a shot

My life is ALWAYS perfectly awesome
Everyday's ALWAYS okay
There's NEVER a time when I worrysome-
And today "ISN'T" opposite day

I am writning a poem about the recipe for evil here read it.

A recipe for evil
by: cayden

Take tears, revenge, and betrayal,
throw them all in a bucket over a fire,
put in a cup of ruin in for good measure,
let the vile concoction simmer until black,
throw in a teaspon of hate or fear,
put it all in a rusted pan s loathsome,
bake at the highest heat possible,
until you hear the horrible screams of sorrow,
throw in a lie or better yet two,
serve with sorrow and a cold glass of blood,
the tase you ask, vile of course.

I don't have your poetry packet. I gave them back yesterday after I graded each one. You should have it - check your folder!

Cayden - I love your evil poem! You've got some great vocabulary words in there.

Jamiah - What a wonderful poem. I'd call it 'humorous'. You have such a way with words.

See y'all in class! Ms. L
